Learning Analytics with all its technology and data can seem daunting. Training on the use of analytical data and programming as well as a shift in thinking about technology use and data uses will be imperitive. However, the possibility of providing a learning environment that is individualized and able to assist students in truly learning in an engaging and goal driven environment is outstanding. Through analytics, we have the opportunity to meet students where they are and within the technology that allows them to set and reach individual goals.

Because Learning Analytics occur in the background while programs are running, students are using websites and working, even as they are surfing through pages and reading articles, they require the applications and objects they are using to be in place. Additionally, the data tracking filters need to be in place to capture these uses. There are many issues that can occur, including work or use being missed as a student is logged out of a program or webpage and problems with students who do not have access to technology or Internet all the time. However, as these issues are overcome, training is provided to instructors, and the goal of the instructor becomes more about the process instead of the product and the individual needs instead of ensuring availablility throughout the classroom, Learning Analytics will enhance the outcomes of students.
